For the first time in my life I’m getting to visit the EAA airfest at Oshkosh. Rob is working in Fond du Lac this week (15 miles from Oshkosh) and it worked out that I could take the boat over last night and stay with him, visiting the airfest while he works.
And what a day it was! I arrived, got checked in, and started checking things out. Pilots from around the world come year after year, so it took me some time to get my bearings, being my first time. It was very busy but I had fun.
After lunch I attended a small session for pilots to talk to Sully Sullenberger and Jeff Skiles who piloted the USAirways flight into the Hudson River in January. They were fantastic…

I visited the vendors buildings (many of them) and saw all the new devices, charts and gear. Even headsets for your dog.
Tomorrow is Women in Aviation day. I picked up a shirt to wear in a group photo tomorrow of all the girl pilots here. That will be fun.
Tomorrow night we’re taking the Lake Express back to Muskegon and home late tomorrow night.
Here”s more shots from today. I can’t wait to come back next year.

We have a new camera. A Pentax DSLR. The great thing about it is my old lenses from my film SLR days all work on the new camera. While in Petoskey I got some great sunrise and sunset shots (is there any better place to get them?)
Sunrise from our campground…

Sunset from the campground…

Rob, Winston and I headed north with the tin can for a quick get away in Petoskey. We are at Magnus Park on Little Traverse Bay. Here’s a photo of our campsite and the tin can. Does it make you think of the Sesame Street song…”One of these things is not like the other”…???

Shortly after we arrived Linda drove in. She was worried she wouldn’t be able to find us among all the travel trailers here. But once she saw us, this was her response…

Could she be laughing at our tin can?
Kim came a little later and we had a nice dinner here.

Sorry about the butt shot Linda.
After dinner Kim and Linda left. She backed over our campsite marker so she left the same way she came in….giggling so hard she couldn’t drive…

Rob and I settled in for the gorgeous Petoskey sunset.

Then back into the tin can for our usual evening activities.

You may be wondering how we get on line…My computer is connected to my cell phone using bluetooth and from there I access the same services that let me read the news on my phone. Cool, huh?

Evan and I got to fish this morning at the Millpond. It was fun taking him and watching the Kingfishers diving into the water.

There are few things in life that are certain. One of those things is that each time my sister and I are together we get into fits of uncontrolled giggling. For her 50th birthday I made her a giggle sign and put a little picture of her dog Sophie in it. This week I got one for me too…so we have both have signs up in our homes of our giggling sisterhood. Here’s a picture of my sign…

Notice the L. It has a picture of the two of us. Ninnie and Nanna. Here’s a close up…
