20 years ago today (Thursday) my brother Steve died. Here is my favorite picture of him with his daughter, Amanda.

We’re having a really nice weekend with Meg, Brenna and Evan. They came up for the Maple Syrup Festival but it has mostly been rained out.
Last night they fed the ants in all three big ant hills and then we had a nice bonfire.
Hopefully the weather tomorrow will be better!
Today is Winston’s birthday.
Rob had a great posting about him on his blog…I couldn’t have said it any more myself.
Here’s the posting…
These are some of our new plants for the nursery. Here we have Nine Bark and Purple Leaf Sandcherries (both favorites of mine) and on the left are 100 hybrid poplars. In addition we have 15 varieties of ornamental grass, dappled willow, Japanese Red Maples, Japanese Green Maples, Flame Maples, Red Bud and Northern Pine Trees. Plus we have all the plants in our regular gardens. Everything we have will be used for propagation with hopefully enough propagated for some wholesale sales next spring.
Why Wedding Tree you ask? Our house was built in 1879. Legend has it that during that era when a couple married and set up a new household a pair of trees were planted. We have a pair of northern pines in our front yard that are about the same age as our farm. So we believe they are wedding trees.
We also planted a pair of northern pines up on wedding hill where we were married. I’ll get some pictures of the wedding trees this weekend.
So, my little boy is 25 today. Hard to believe. But he is one of the nicest guys in the whole world. I’m so proud of him and the life he is building.
Happy Birthday Jono…I’ll be calling to sing later
We’ve had a busy Easter Sunday. Jon and Adrie came for lunch and a treasure hunt. Susie was working. The kids said it was the best treasure hunt ever. Little did they know it was almost identical to the 2007 hunt.
Around 5 Meaghan, Brenna and Evan came and we had dinner. Evan and I played baseball. I even found my old glove! I think it is about 30+ years old.
It has been a really nice Sunday.
This has been a long week. Rob left Sunday for Pittsburg and NY. He was supposed to be home tonight, but his flight was canceled so he so he won’t be home until after noon tomorrow.
Hospice House has been crazy! We’ve had 5 or 6 residents every night, most with very high acuity. Everyone is working extra and it is going pretty well. It has been stressful, but rewarding in many ways. These families really really needed the house. I’m glad it is there for them.
