I’m still quite sick tonight. This started Monday and is no better. So this morning I finally went to Urgent Care. I’ve got a bad case of bronchitis. I came home with lots of meds and hopefully tomorrow will be much better than I am today.
Two items of good news today. We’ve been on pins and needles with the escape of a convicted murderer in Big Rapids. In the past month there have been 2 cases of home intruders near here (20 and 30 miles away) taking couples out of their homes and killing them. This guy wasn’t one of them, but the others are so fresh we’ve been concerned and took extra precautions. The police kept saying all weekend that they thought he was hiding in Big Rapids in a random home of someone from Ferris who was out of town for the holiday. Looks like they were right. Today he was seen leaving town in a car with a Ferris Faculty/Staff sticker and he was arrested in Romulus. Whew.
And the second piece of great news…It’s Snowing!!!!!! A big winter storm. It is just beautiful. Not a bad day to be sick and sleepy.

For the third day in a row I’m home sick. I wasn’t able to make the trip to Toledo, so Rob was so sweet and stayed home to take care of me. Dishes and I spent the day in the recliner…as you can see here….

Rev. Joe Dudley died today. He had a large influence on my young adult hood. He was my minister for many years and his daughter Deanna has been a life long friend.
Here is a piece of his biography:
Joseph Iron Eye Dudley was raised on the Yankton Sioux Reservation by his grandparents from the age of three. He lived in a tiny house near a bend of the Choteau Creek and from his recollection of those days, Dudley compiled the book “Choteau Creek: A Sioux Reminiscence”. The book portrays how his grandparents instilled cultural, social, and spiritual values in him, leaving a lasting positive impact on his life. In 1993, Dudley’s book received the Christopher Award for making a significant contribution to human relations in adult literature.
Dudley, with his GED, did not graduate from college until the age of 34. He studied at Central Michigan University, Northern State University (Aberdeen, SD), and received his doctorate from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.
An ordained United Methodist minister, Dudley is currently the president of Cook College and Theological School in Tempe, AZ. He is following the school’s long history of educating and enabling Native American’s to pursue leadership positions.
Dudley developed the first Native American United Methodist Congregation in South Dakota at Aberdeen and received the Distinguished Service Award from the United Tribes of North Carolina. He frequently lectures on the subjects of racism, intercultural relationships and Native American spirituality.
